About MINDHALA

A living philosophy, remembered.

Rooted in the wisdom of the Bali Aga — the original people of Bali — MINDHALA is a regenerative sanctuary and cultural movement restoring the relationship between humanity, nature, creativity and consciousness.

What is MINDHALA?

The intersection of the inner world of the mind and the sacred geometry of life.

MINDHALA is a living philosophy rooted in the remembrance of humanity's relationship with nature, community, consciousness and ancestral wisdom. Inspired by the Bali Aga traditions of East Bali, MINDHALA represents the intersection between the inner world of the mind and the sacred geometry of life itself. It is a return to original knowledge — where land is not viewed as a commodity but as a living force; where architecture is not simply built, but grown from the spirit of place; and where wellness is not a luxury, but a natural state of alignment.

MINDHALA is the bridge between ancient and future worlds. It embraces the teachings preserved within the Bali Aga communities — communal living, reverence for ancestors, harmony with the elements, craftsmanship, ritual, storytelling, and a deep understanding that human beings are inseparable from the ecosystems around them. The Bali Aga are known for preserving older Austronesian traditions, communal structures, distinctive architecture, and sacred artistic practices such as the revered Gringsing double-ikat weaving of Tenganan.

Through its projects, MINDHALA is an ecosystem rather than a destination — a place where architecture flows with the landscape rather than dominating it; where wellbeing draws on both modern and ancient modalities; where food becomes medicine, cacao becomes ceremony, creativity becomes spiritual practice, business becomes stewardship, community becomes family, and nature becomes teacher.

MINDHALA reflects a vision where luxury is redefined — not luxury through excess or accumulation, but luxury through silence, space, health, clean water, fresh food, cultural preservation, meaningful relationships, spiritual clarity, and connection to the land.

Our Mission
MINDHALA is a regenerative sanctuary and cultural movement inspired by the wisdom of the Bali Aga heritage — dedicated to restoring the relationship between humanity, nature, creativity and consciousness, through architecture, wellness, community and sacred experiences.

A Vision

Hidden between the mountains, jungle and sea, MINDHALA emerges from the spirit of ancient Bali, inspired by the living traditions of the Bali Aga. It is a place where ancestral wisdom meets future possibility — a sanctuary for healing, creation, ceremony and human connection.

MINDHALA invites people to remember a slower rhythm of life — one rooted in nature, purpose, beauty and collective well-being. Here, every structure, pathway, gathering and ritual becomes part of a larger mandala: a living expression of harmony between earth, spirit and community.

Sequoia LaDeil Velez is an Indigenous Native American with deep ancestral heritage — a MedTech entrepreneur, biotech strategist and Indigenous Futurist. He has lived for over five years within an ancient village in the Karangasem region of East Bali, in close alignment with the Bali Aga — the original, pre-Majapahit Balinese — and their living traditions in Tenganan. His family carries a long legacy of building hospitals and schools across the Americas.

He is the visionary developer behind a 13-hectare integrated wellness and cultural destination on the ridges of East Bali — combining biologically responsive design, sustainability, cultural preservation and human-potential development. His cultural and wellness initiatives in Bali are developed in close collaboration with the local Banjar village system and the community of Karangasem, East Bali.

Mindhala is the foundation of his larger mission: a dedicated centre for mental strength and human potential — bringing together intuition development, deep meditation, Mindsight training, cultural immersion and indigenous wisdom, in respectful collaboration with local communities, and in honour of Balinese heritage, especially ancient villages such as Tenganan.

The Wider World

The AGA Bali Project.

In the hills of Tenganan Dauh Tukad, Karangasem, East Bali, MINDHALA's home is taking shape: a 13-hectare regenerative community inspired by the Bali Aga. Architecture grown from the spirit of place; food as medicine; water and forest restored; and a living culture of ceremony and craft.

The Mindsight retreat in Ubud is the first invitation into this wider world — a way to experience MINDHALA's spirit while the East Bali sanctuary is brought to life.
